Back lane, side gate or through the house: we agree the route for turf, soil and waste.

Step one
Where there's an old lawn, it's cut out with a turf cutter and taken away. Weeds, stones and roots come out with it.

Step two
Next the soil is broken up, with extra topsoil where it runs thin, then levelled, firmed and raked fine so the turf lies flat.
Step three
Rolls go down tight against each other with the joints staggered like brickwork. Edges are cut neatly to paths and beds.
The new lawn is firmed down and given a first water. We talk you through watering for the weeks ahead and when to give it the first cut, and we tidy up as we go.
Most gardens are finished within a day. Where there's a lot of clearing or levelling, it can run longer, and your quote will flag that from the start.

It helps if you're around at the start to agree the plan and let us in. After that, as long as we can reach the lawn and a tap, you don't need to stay in.
Light rain is fine for laying. Frozen or waterlogged ground isn't, so if the weather turns we'll talk to you about a new date.
Try to stay off it for two or three weeks so the roots can grip. Our aftercare guide explains the first weeks.
