Quotes and booking
Is the quote free?
Yes, completely free, with no obligation to go ahead.
How do I book?
Accept your quote and pay the deposit, which holds your date. It's from just £100 deposit and comes off your final bill.
When do I pay the rest?
Whatever's left is paid on the day we start work. The details are in our turf laying terms.
Do you work for landlords and trade?
Yes. Pick A rental, Trade or Developer in the first section of the form. Trade and developers get a box for the company name.
Which areas do you cover?
Newcastle and Tyneside, from the city's western edge to the coast. That includes Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and North Shields, Wallsend and South Shields. See all areas.
The work
What's included in the price?
Whatever your garden needs, listed part by part: old lawn removal, ground preparation, topsoil, the turf itself, laying and clearing the waste. Builders' rubble has its own price.
How long will it take?
Most gardens are finished within a day. Big lawns or plots that need a lot of clearing take longer, and your quote will say so.
Can you turf over my old grass?
We don't lay turf on top of an old lawn. The old grass is lifted first so the new roots can reach good soil.
Can you reach a garden with no side access?
Usually, yes. Plenty of Tyneside lawns are reached from a back lane or through the house. Tell us on the form and we'll plan around it.
The turf
Which turf do you lay?
A single quality lawn turf that's hard-wearing, suits most gardens and copes well with pets and children.
Why are some rolls torn at the edges?
Fresh turf is cut and rolled in the field, so the odd torn edge or split roll is normal. They knit together once laid.
Aftercare
When can I walk on it?
Try to stay off it for two to three weeks. Light use after that is fine; save heavy wear for when it's well rooted.
How often should I water?
Daily for roughly the first ten days unless there's been a proper soaking of rain, then fewer, deeper waterings. See our watering guide.
When is the first mow?
Normally two or three weeks after laying, when a gentle tug no longer lifts the turf. Our first mow guide covers it.
