Lawn turfing in Fenham
Fenham is known for its interwar semis and the long, straight back gardens behind them. Many of those lawns have seen decades of football, washing lines and sheds.

Long gardens, long service
A typical Fenham back garden is narrow and long, with a path down one side and a shed at the end. After years of family use the grass tends to be patchy near the house, mossy under hedges and bumpy where old flower beds were filled in.
What we usually do in Fenham
- Lift the old lawn the full length of the garden
- Even out old bed outlines and sunken patches
- Loosen the clay and add topsoil where it's thin
- Lay turf with straight edges along the path
- Leave a tidy finish at the shed or patio end
Front lawns too
Many Fenham semis have a small front lawn behind a low wall or hedge. Doing the front at the same time as the back is often good value, since the preparation and setup happen once.
Getting turf down a long garden
With a side path, rolls go straight down the garden. If the path is narrow or blocked, tell us and we'll plan another route.

Questions people ask
Can you do front and back on the same visit?
Yes. Mention both on the form and your quote will cover them together.
Our lawn floods near the house. Can you help?
Often the soil there is compacted. We break it up, add topsoil and set the levels so water runs away from the house.
